Abstract
Nonsurgical Class II Treatment in Adults: indications, limits and clinical compromises
by Bassarelli Turi
Over the past decade, a growing number of adults have become increasingly aware of orthodontic treatment and are seeking high-quality care that delivers greater efficiency and reduced costs within the shortest possible time. Among the various orthodontic problems encountered in clinical practice, Class II malocclusion remains one of the most prevalent and challenging conditions to manage. Management often requires an interdisciplinary approach and may involve orthognathic surgery or selective dental and dentoalveolar camouflage to address underlying skeletal discrepancies. Advances in orthodontic techniques, including the use of fixed functional appliances, temporary anchorage devices, and increasingly popular clear aligner therapy, have expanded treatment options and improved clinical outcomes. This presentation highlights contemporary strategies for the diagnosis and management of Class II malocclusion, with particular emphasis on non-surgical camouflage approaches and their effectiveness in adult patients.
